So last night I ran into Cliff and he was in the mood to play. Usually, he is just taking a short break from his work, but last night he wanted to go someplace fun. I teleported us to Acquarella, which I had been writing an article about for 2nd Journal. We started wandering to the other exhibits and he was doubting the veracity of Alizarin's comments on her website stating the works weren't photos, but were drawn with a tablet and pen. "Because it says so doesn't make it so," he stated. Then, he explained that an artist had used his work for "inspiration," but hadn't given him credit. As he was explaining this, I was just uploading the article on Acquarella. He continued to talk about ethics and, mistakenly thinking he was talking about Alizarin, I stopped inserting photos.
I can't put my stamp of approval on an artist who steals someone else's ideas, I thought. As soon as the thought popped up, I trashed the article, photos and all. I commented on how coincidental it was to run into this artist in SL. I felt like I had ruined his evening by bringing him to see Alizarin's work. When I said it was my fault he was upset, he suddenly said, "this isn't the artist." He had been making a point! I had given him a hearty laugh, but I felt very stupid. And now I had to upload the article and photos all over again.
