I am thankful today, more than usual. I think I take too many things for granted. First, I am thankful for Amakusa's return from his work in the mountains and that he is recovering from his illness. There are a thousand things to be thankful for. I have a job, such as it is. I live in a quiet, low-crime area. I can get fresh food and safe water. Although I would describe myself as toward the lower end of middle class, I have a comfortable lifestyle and I will be able to send both my children to college or trade school. I have health insurance and can get the health care I need. I can buy all the clothes I want, including nice work clothes, for $2.00 at the clothing bank. The only clothing I must buy new is shoes, underwear, some items for Qz and all of Drax's clothes (he is 5 ft. 9 in. with size 13 feet). My car is in good shape. I have a roof over my head with central heating. My children stay away from trouble and get good grades. Because of Qz, my life is filled with music and art.
I don't have to be afraid I will say the wrong thing or read the wrong book and be dragged off for torture. My employer has to follow stringent laws regarding my pay and safety.
I have the opportunity to fulfill my dreams.
