New York Magazine Approval Matrix

Simplified SL Version
My former boss, Martha, and I use this little-known but humorous matrix to describe our experiences in the hospital where I work and in day-to-day life. I will try to stay away from RL examples, although I am tempted to describe some of my coworkers that I mentioned before who are begging for the "ban button." Instead, I will use it in the context of SL, in which I could get in as much trouble but I won't lose my job as a consequence.

How about Shakespeare in SL, Jane Austin book club and Ballet Pixelle? Definitely "high brow" and, since you have to be intelligent and innovative to overcome all the virtual world obstacles to present it, "brilliant." What about behaviors like requests to befriend or teleport me without the requisite introductions or explanations? While not quite despicable (unless it's a guy you met once trying to teleport you to sex), they are not brilliant. But these examples are too easy.

What about slavery? Or virtual sex? I'm not going to touch that... Child avatars? I think they are low brow and despicable. Alts? Brilliant, but low brow? I will let you decide, because it is really a matter of opinion. Suppose you can't stand Shakespeare? Then, I guess it would be despicable to put it in a virtual world, although hard to describe as low brow unless you're twisted.
