Helpers

Ganymede Zeplin with his house

I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating. Some of the most thoughtful and helpful people are not Helpers. Last night was grueling on the plaza and I was on the "walkie talkie" several times begging for assistance. I think my fellow helpers were partying, so I resisted the urge to scream "YOU PEOPLE ARE ON YOUR OWN!" and TP away to a quiet place. I was being pushed by three people, trying to calm an angry Bloodlines player and trying to keep a mob of disgusted women from beating on a naked guy. Of course, this doesn't happen in a vacuum; I was trying to explain about getting jobs, how to learn about animating and renting and how to use the search function, as well as conversing with friends. Then, since I changed clothes, my face disappeared again (thanks to the new viewer). By this time, I could only laugh. Could anything more go wrong?

Takashi and rags were entertaining us with their antics, with steve Emodemon putting his little jabs in occasionally. This was nicely diverting and helpful in its own way, defusing my temper. But for me, the hero of the evening was Lost Quar. He interrupted (without even being asked) a conversation with a friend to help me assist the naked man, who only spoke Portuguese. He took him off the plaza and patiently talked to him for at least 20-30 minutes, explaining to him how to put on clothes. Apparently, the man was insisting that "wear" didn't work. Just as Lost was asking me to try to help, the man figured out what to do.

After Lost returned to his friend, he seemed surprised I didn't want to interrupt him again. How could I not want him to enjoy companionship of others?
Let me just wear my heart on my sleeve for a moment...
Lost is one of the most genuine and sweetest men I have met. His happiness remains important to me. I think we have been a mutual support to each other, although maybe he doesn't see how much he has supported me.

In other ways, the night was enjoyable. I talked to Ganymede Zeplin about building and he shared his house with me. I am impressed with his building skills with so little time in SL. I asked him to try my ring and we discovered it's too big, even for man hands. I had Andree try it too and a smaller version. It needs work...

Andree is another who has impressed me with his building skills. I remember the first day I met him shortly after he was born. I think he has found SL to be a place where he can learn and enjoy and where he can love and be loved, an intelligent guy behind that language barrier.
