Today, a guy kept telling he wanted to meet some new friends. I explained he could meet friends on Help People Island or I could give him some landmarks where there would be people to meet. I offered him friendship also. I don't know if I misunderstood what he wanted or he misunderstood me. He finally blurted, "f*** all of u." [I asked him to please not talk like that; it's PG rated. Then, I apologized for my lack of understanding.] He wandered to the other side of the plaza. Hmmm, I thought, not the usual response I get..."What do I do next?" is a more typical question newbies ask many times a day at HPI and elsewhere. It's not that kind of game, I would like to say, not a pre-scripted game. You make what you want of your experiences here. You choose. Some people grab onto that concept with both hands and teleport out of HPI with a handfull of landmarks into a great big world of possibilities. Others are hanging back, waiting for someone to tell them what THE next step is and are frustrated at not getting a specific answer. Could that be my friend's problem this morning? I'm still wondering. We do our best to explain and offer suggestions, but you won't find us telling you what to do next. That wouldn't be any fun for you!

Cricket Crabe assists a newbie with this question. He is good to work next to; he is always positive and I notice always nurturing my efforts to learn more and improve. And not just me - I've caught him praising the efforts of others in a way that makes them feel appreciated. That you really need, particularly when someone has flipped you off virtually.
